At a $2300.00 per person fund-raising dinner for Barack Obama on July 11th, 2008, attendees expected to be entertained and inundated with hope. Instead it became another clean-up for Obama, as his friends once again let him down.

Bernie Mac was the comedian, and friend, slated to introduce the Democratic candidate and warm up the crowd. He instead chose to further divide the black community and shock the white voters.

Now Bernie Mac needs some new original material, because the joke he tells about the nephew wanting to know the difference between a hypothetical and a real question is so old that I can't believe he used it. But the joke continues with the famous "Go upstairs and ask your mother if she would make love to the mailman for $50,000. ” And then go ask your sister the same question. And the big finish,  the joke rambles on until the punch line that he and his nephew hypothetically could have $100,000, but instead realistically lived with “two hos.”

I give my applause to the hecklers that got Mr. Bernie Mac off the stage.

I honestly am beginning to wonder if Obama actually has any friends, or maybe they are closet Republicans, because with the exception of Oprah, I am not sure any of his so-called friends care about his campaign results.

Obama did try to clean up the mess made by Mac with the following speech:
         
“We can’t afford to be divided by race,” Mr. Obama said. “We can’t afford to be divided by region or by class and we can’t afford to be divided by gender, which by the way, that means, Bernie, you’ve got to clean up your act next time. This is a family affair. By the way, I’m just messing with you, man.”


It's hard to believe that what most saw as a step ahead in race and gender relations, has now morphed into the exact opposite.

When Obama and Clinton ran against one another it divided the democratic party, so much so that most Clinton supporters still do not support Obama. Some because they feel Obama should take care of her huge campaign debts, which is totally ludicrous. If Clinton did not have the funds to go forward, she did not have the supporters to go forward, so she should have stepped aside.

Jesse Jackson's tirade, complete with video proof of his hatred of Obama, (or his lack of control of Obama) was in reference to talking down to black people, even though the crowd Obama was speaking to was filled with cheers and applause.

So now we have a nation divided again, but differently. Democrats against democrats, blacks against blacks, men against woman.

I am really beginning to wonder, "Can we all just get along."

What is wrong with Obama wanting our children to be educated, to be raised properly by their parents, to learn another language?

What is wrong with wanting hope and peace and change from the high gas prices, our troops overseas and lousy economy?

I want the Hope back.

I want the Peace back.
 
And if I can't get the hope or the peace back, can I just have some peace and quiet.
