American Idol's Fantasia Suffers Home Foreclosure

Lately the swarm of publicity appearances to promote the new American Idol series has been dotted with ditzy appearances by Paula Abdul promoting her new jewelry line, announcements of new judge Kara DioGuardi, and even the tragic death of a troubled Idol fan who overdosed near Paula Abdul's home.

And even the tragedy that occurred to Jennifer Hudson's family sadly kept the American Idol name going with every single news update.

And once again American Idol is in the news with a story of a poor small town girl that overindulges on two separate homes in Charlotte, NC and is facing foreclosure. Or is this the case of the economic crisis hitting a celebrity hard in these tough economic times?

The flamboyant Fantasia Barrino who won Season 3 on American Idol, and more recently starred in Oprah Winfrey's production of "The Color Purple" on Broadway has suffered a home foreclosure on one of her Charlotte, NC homes.

Home Facing Foreclosure

The home originally purchased for $1.3 million in March of 2007. The home was featured on an episode of MTV Cribs and features a magnificent double stairwell at the entrance, a pool, and a massive 6,232 square  feet.

This comes on the heels of Fantasia's Grammy nomination for the duet with Jennifer Hudson called I'm His Only Woman".

Barrino, a single mother of daughter Zion, must come up with all necessary payments before January 12, 2009, or the home will be sold at auction. She will however not be homeless, as she still owns a home valued at $750,000 that according to reports is not in trouble currently.
